Background

Charity Bank, a member of WM Funders Network, is an ethical banker: founded to support charities with loans that they couldn’t find elsewhere and to show people how their savings could be invested ethically and in ways that would make them happy. It seeks to understand the organisations it lends to, working together with their staff and social investors to create lasting social change in communities.

Although its core products are loans and savings for charities and social enterprises, Charity Bank is looking to develop products that will help broaden its reach and serve a wider group of under-represented and minoritised individuals. Such products as unsecured loans and development grants are being considered.

The consultation meeting is an opportunity for Charity Bank to discuss with members of WM Funders Network that have experience of engaging with a wider range of communities of place and interest:

  • To share experience and good practice on building relationships with key networks and individuals, and strategies to overcome barriers to engaging and making applications

  • How Charity Bank can consider ways forward that extend its reach through the development of products to best serve a wider range of communities.
