Sandwell Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has been a long standing member of WMFN. Stuart Ashmore, Deputy Chief Executive and colleagues have attended and contributed to various events and activities. We are delighted to announce that Stuart has agreed to become a Trustee and joins the Board in April 2021.
Stuart joined SCVO – Sandwell’s VCSE infrastructure support body in March 2015. He arrived in the Voluntary and Community Sector in October 2000 as the Finance Administrator at First Base Walsall – an independent Christian charity that supported homeless young people (aged 16-25) in Walsall – later going on to become the charity’s CEO until 2012 when he joined the Evangelical Christian NGO, Tearfund, to work as Project Manager for its ‘Big Society’-funded social action project here in the UK supporting local church and community engagement. Prior to all of that, Stuart spent nearly 15 years working in private sector finance (with NatWest Bank) with his final post being Customer Service Branch Manager in Rowley Regis. He has been married to Megan for 29 years and has two children – Toby (27) and Esme (25). In his spare time, he is a keen musician and keeps active through running and cycling.
